‘artifex in her habitat’ is part of a group exhibition where local artists were asked to exhibit their works in Enschede. the location was an old textile factory. inside this factory are placed a sort of glass boxes. I was invited to build a temporal installation in one of these boxes. because of the very open location (no walls, only glass) I wanted to build an installation that would give an insight of my working process as an artist. I have reconstructed my studio in a nature-museum-kinda-way. the mannequin is a look-a-like of me. the reactions were very funny because people thought I was giving a performance. of course I observed all of this incognito... the project ‘shop until you drop’ builds further on the subject of viewers as voyeurs.
